My family celebrated my birthday recently, and so my oldest son, Ben Jacobson, made this fondant cake to commemorate the event. Knowing my love for sushi, he created an assortment of nigri and maki rolls using Swedish Fish, Fruit Roll-ups, Rice Crispies & Marshmallows, and donuts. There's a bowl of sticky rice (Rice Krispies & Marshmallows) and Soy Sauce (Chocolate Syrup), and some Wasabi & Ginger (frosting).

Looks like you aren't the only one in the family with talent! (But I have to say the idea of sushi, even sushi decorations, and cake... well something's just not right!)
That's awesome, Rich. How fun. I just hope it didn't smell like raw fish. Well, I hope it didn't smell like raw or cooked fish, really. :)
Rich,
That is an amazing and detailed cake. A cake decorated to a theme is really neat when the theme works for the person having the birthday.
Great ingenuity Ben! But I do have issues with seafood... I bet I could eat that cake though :)
Rich - If there are three things I love they are: cake, sushi, and Swedish Fish. I'd be awfully proud to see this cake in front of me!
KitsapAgent = Rich? How did I miss that the other day. D'oh!
That is just awesome, no other words required!
Cake sounds good... sushi not so good! Hope you had a great Birthday and you enjoyed the treat your son made.
Very creative. Looks like a TV show should come calling any minute.
Rich,
That's a very creative son you've got and a delightfully delicious cake you've got there.
Wow! Now that is a creation. Birthday wishes and the best for the New Year!
Wow! That is some birthday cake. I like the swedish fish best. Yep, most creative birthday cake ever.
Rich, My kids love that show. My neighbor wants to get some "fondant" icing and work with my youngest on how to decorate cakes. Better than a lot of the other trashy reality shows and I think your son did an AWESOME job not only with how good it looks, but also in the spirit of what is important to you! All the best in 2010! Michelle
Hi Rich ~ I'm with Matt - cake, sushi and Swedish Fish - all good and probably in that order too. That is just a fabulous cake - you have a very talented son. Happy birthday!

Rich my friend, sorry but I would have taken a pass on the cake. Something about the combination of fruit roll-ups and raw fish that just does not do much for me ....... LOL
Happy Birthday :)
Wow! That is the most unique cake I have ever seen! Very cool!
This is 110% up my ally - that is fantastic! Of course I wish it was real sushi - even though I can push the cookies down too!
Hi Rich... Ben is quite talented. That Ace of Cakes guy on the Food Network should be looking over his shoulder!
